Note that the US has more than doubled China's numbers and will likely triple them within 72 hours. Its overnight numbers almost match the UK's total cases since January 30. We will see a million cases worldwide well before the weekend.
Italy and Spain are collapsing, and Iran's numbers are actually beginning to look good by comparison. European countries with good healthcare systems like Belgium and the Netherlands have only triple-digit cases, but also triple-digit deaths.
Bear in mind that today's confirmed cases, everywhere in the world, were contracted in mid-March or a little later, and tested positive sometime later. However many people contracted COVID-19 today, we won't know until mid-April.
