I wish I could feel encouraged by the low case and death counts of the last couple of days. But they really look like undercounts, and when you look at the cumulative weekly counts for epi-week 24 (ending Saturday June 19), the situation looks much worse:
The case count last week was 508,932, the highest since epi-week 12 when it was 539,903—the worst in the pandemic. Deaths totalled 14,528, the highest since week 18: 14,879.
Brazil will almost certainly pass 18 million cases tomorrow.
