When the late Judy-Lynn Del Rey rejected one of my early novels, she wrote: "He's telling, not showing." That made me get serious as a writer.

Thank you so much for this section. I read somewhere that agents do not like a boring descriptive (such as your boxed example).

The problem for me was that I couldn't imagine a different way to describe my characters.
